FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Our plan is to purchase a farm in the next 90 days. We are targeting the areas within an hour of Lexington, with the exception of the eastern side of Lexington, and might go up as far as near the border by Cincinnati. Ideally we are looking for between 30 and 100 acres, would prefer a water source on property, welcome homes on site, would love to have outbuildings in place and I am a licensed realtor handling the transaction. We are hoping to start with a strawberry patch, some cattle for beef, chickens for eggs, sunflower field, and a cut flower field. We will have outdoor venues near the flower fields and other idyllic spots. Eventually we hope to have a fully stocked barn venue with heat, air, bridal suites and a small commercial kitchen for caterers. It has been a longtime dream for us to host a seasonal or monthly markets to allow for community engagement, to support other local small businesses and farms, and create a fun activity for local families in ways that we have enjoyed similar venues across the country. It is possible we will provide pick your own produce. We would love to establish a CSA. We will also be installing a greenhouse to offer year round local produce to our community.
Our family has planned for this farm for decades. What we didn't plan for was the sharp rise in cost of land, building materials, farm supplies, and loans experienced across the country over the past 5 years. All donations received will be used to offset those costs for the purchase of our farm and start-up costs to begin all aspects of farming. We sincerely appreciate your support.
